The Brazilian José Aldo will have a new chance to compete for the Ultimate bantamweight belt. After having the duel against Henry Cejudo canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 'People's Champion' will face the Russian Petr yan for the vacant title of the up to 61.2 kg division. The announcement was made by Dana White, president of the franchise, for ESPN, in the USA. The date and place, however, were not made official by the agent.

Former featherweight champion (up to 65.6 kg.), José Aldo moved down the bantamweight category in December 2019. On that occasion, he fought a tough fight against Marlon moraes, but was overcome in a split decision by the judges. Even with the setback, he was chosen to face Henry Cejudo on May 9th, in São Paulo. However, with the coronavirus pandemic, the show was transferred to the USA. As Aldo did not have an American work visa, he was prevented from fighting. The 'People's Champion' has a record of 28 wins and six losses.
In its turn, Petr yan he is third in the rooster rankings. The Russian has a professional record of 14 wins and just one loss. The Russian comes from a sequence of nine consecutive victories, the last being over Urijah faber, in December.
UFC 251
Despite not having an official date, the North American website MMA Fighting obtained information that the dispute could take place on UFC 251, July 11th, in Las Vegas (USA). On the same date, the dispute between Israel adesanya x Paulo borrachinha, for the middleweight title (up to 83.9 kg,) is also predicted.
