the controversial Nick Diaz announced his retirement from MMA after being caught in the doping test at UFC 143, in February, for using marijuana. But the former Strikeforce champion in the welterweight division (up to 77 kg.) seems to have changed his mind and wants to return to the octagon in a big challenge.
Through an official statement, issued by Brazilian César Gracie, his coach, the North American asked for a fight against Brazilian Anderson Silva, owner of the UFC middleweight belt (under 84 kg).
“(Andrson) Silva’s team has been talking about a fight against Georges St Pierre (UFC welterweight champion), possibly even at combined weight. Nick would accept this fight right away, but he told me that if Silva decided not to go down, he would move up to 84kg (middleweight limit, Spider's category) to face the champion”, wrote Gracie.
