Earlier this week, MMA fans were surprised by the news that Henry Cejudo was officially removed from his position as UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg).. The board took action after the North American announced, after defending his title against Dominick Cruz, on May 9, his retirement from the sport. Upon learning of the organization's attitude in removing him from the official ranking, 'Triplo C' published a thank you post on social media.

Since winning his first UFC belt in 2018, Cejudo has made it clear that his biggest dream in the sport was to make history by beating legends of the sport. In five years working for the UFC, Henry, in fact, managed to leave his mark by winning two titles in different divisions, defending them and beating names like Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Cruz, his last rival.
The decision to hang up the gloves, according to the former fighter's words, came after much reflection on the efforts of a life dedicated to competitions. A natural athlete, Henry reached the top of the world for the first time in 2008, when he won the Olympic gold medal in wrestling for the United States, in Beijing (China). To achieve this, it took years of total dedication, giving up many pleasures to reach perfection. Now, then, is the time to rest, at 33 years old.
