the challenge of Jon Jones a Francis Ngannou surprised many MMA fans around the world. Although the superfight, at the moment, is nothing more than a mere utopia, the confrontation has gained an unusual supporter: Daniel Cormier. A former enemy of 'Bones', DC praised the light heavyweight champion's (up to 93kg) attitude in wanting to test himself against one of the most feared men in the UFC.

“Why would you be afraid of someone? Especially if you're a guy with a history of Jon Jones. Why? That's what I don't understand, why do people think that guys like me and Jon Jones we are afraid of someone. We are not afraid of anyone. I think this Jones thing is cool. That's what any real fighter would do. I take my hat off to him,” said Cormier in a speech shared by 'Bones' on their social media.

Despite the old rivalry, currently, DC and Jones share the desire to face Francis, who ran over Jairzinho Rozensturik in his last performance, at UFC 249, and caught the attention of the former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.). Daniel said that, if Stipe Miocic does not defend his title, Ultimate should promote a fight between Cormier and the French-Cameroonian for the belt.

Jon responded to his former enemy's speech by taking stock of his career as a professional in mixed martial arts. Considered by many to be the best fighter in history, the champion has not ruled out the possibility of being beaten by Ngannou, but considers it a challenge that can be accomplished, at the right price.

“Some of you have been waiting for my defeat for over a decade. Now, finally, you can see me inside (the Octagon) in front of a hungry giant. Maybe they'll see what they've been waiting for years, maybe they won't. The question is: how much are they willing to pay to see this?” Jones wrote.

Last week, after the challenge made by the welterweight champion, Ngannou readily accepted the proposal. The athletes then sealed a verbal agreement for the confrontation and passed responsibility for the promotion to the Ultimate board.

In an interview after the UFC Overeem vs. Harris, held last Saturday (16), the company's president, Dana White, stated that 'anything is possible' in sport, but would like to ensure that the athletes' efforts are not just lip service.
