In a great phase in the organization, Durinho has been, since last year, proving that he is a name to be respected within the category that is today dominated by Kamaru Usman. After three appearances in his return to welterweight, the athlete didn't take long to be among the category's elite.

In his last commitment, Gilbert overtook the sports icon in Brazil, Demian Maia, and occupied sixth place in the group. The Brazilian's recent achievements caught the attention of Ultimate's management and Woodley, who is now second only to the champion in the division.

A victory over Tyron puts Durinho close to a future title shot. The athlete currently has five wins in a row and could confirm himself as one of the favorites to threaten Usman's reign, champion since he beat Woodley himself last year.
