Chris Weidman: “I don’t know if Anderson Silva wants to fight me”

the american Chris Weidman should really be the next challenger for the belt Anderson Silva. The 28-year-old fighter, who is undefeated in MMA, revealed that his manager is already negotiating with the UFC, but he believes that Anderson Silva has no interest in facing him.

Chris Weidman wants the UFC to mark its fight against Anderson Silva

“My manager talked to Joe Silva (responsible for scheduling UFC fights) and apparently they really want me to face Anderson. But the question is whether Anderson will want to face me and how soon he will be ready to fight again”, said Weidman in an interview with the MMA Fighting radio program.

“Anderson is making a lot of money in Brazil at the moment and he is enjoying it. I don't know if he's very interested in jumping into the octagon with a young, hungry guy. I understand everything that is happening. I hope the UFC makes him face me, and soon” added the fighter.

Weidman also said that the Cuban Hector Lombard, who recently left the Bellator belt to move to the UFC, could be ahead of him in the fight for the chance to fight for the belt. But to do so, Hector would need to beat Tim Boetsch at UFC 149, an event that takes place next Saturday in Canada.

PUBLICITY:

“He's older, he makes more money than me, I understand that makes sense from a promotional point of view… But, I don't know. I simply think I'm the best fight for Anderson, I have the best chance of beating him”, he concluded.
