The middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.), Israel adesanya, proved that he is truly willing to face the owner of the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.), Jon Jones, regardless of the scenario. The Nigerian, who has been exchanging barbs with the North American for some time, clarified that his ambition goes beyond an Ultimate title.

“It (the challenge) was something that wasn't on my mind until he (Jon) said my name and I thought, 'Let's see what it's all about.' The fight is very important, but I don't need it. My coach doesn't want this fight. He prefers me to face someone like Stipe (Miocic)”, said Israel in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

After a disagreement on social media, Adesanya and 'Bones' then began to create a rivalry and promote a confrontation that was not even considered by the Ultimate management. The two athletes have already agreed to exchange forces in the octagon and, depending on Israel, the fight will take place, regardless of whether Jon is at the top of the division or not.

“This is not important for my legacy, but I want this fight and I will get it, regardless of whether he is champion or not at the time. Even if he loses the belt, I'm coming to defeat him”, he concluded.

Both the North American and the Nigerian have already fought in 2020. Jones entered the octagon in February, when he made another title defense by winning Dominick reyes by points in a highly contested result.

Adesanya also gave a controversial performance in his presentation. Against Yoel romero, Israel held its first title defense. The Nigerian maintained his number one spot, but both he and the Cuban gave the public a very disappointing show.
