Khabib's father is hospitalized in Russia with suspected pneumonia

Mentor and coach of the lightweight champion, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, felt unwell and ended up being taken to the hospital; coronavirus is not ruled out

The lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Khabib Nurmagomedov lives a family drama. His father, coach and mentor, Abdulmanap, 57, was recently admitted to a hospital in Dagestan (Russia) with suspected pneumonia or flu. Until medical tests confirm the illness with certainty, he will be isolated, as the possibility of having contracted coronavirus (Covid-19) cannot be ruled out. The news was released by journalist Ramazan Rabadanov.

“Abdulmanap is in Makhachkala, at the Second City Hospital. He fell ill in the mountains. He walked for two days and the brothers convinced him to go to the hospital. While the coronavirus is not confirmed, they (doctors) say it could be the flu. No one is allowed to visit him,” said Ramazan in an interview with 'Championat.com'.

Even without a conclusive diagnosis, Nurmagomedov tried to update his family, fans, press and teammates that he is recovering well. In conversation with 'TASS', Khabib's mentor spoke about his health.

“I feel great. Everything is fine with me,” she said.
