Bantamweight and featherweight champion denies participating in show, against Felicia Spencer, which could mark the return of UFC activities, amid the global health crisis

Even though it is not official, the information that Ultimate can resume its activities on May 9th has shaken the spirits of the sport's fans. Amidst so much uncertainty, the show ended up losing one of the stars who would have been scheduled to fight. Champion of bantamweight (up to 62,1kg.) and featherweight (up to 65,7kg.), Amanda nunes He preferred to respect the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and refused to carry out his first defense of his second belt at the moment.

“Actually, I’m not going to fight on May 9th. I'm going to fight, but I don't know yet (when). I don't think this is the right time for me to fight. Let's let this coronavirus pass for a while. That way, I can at least have a full camp. Maybe we can do it around June, let's see what happens, but I'm not going to fight on May 9th”, said the 'Leoa' in an interview with 'CBS Sports'.

Released by 'MMA Fighting', next month's possible card would present the public with three title fights, one of them, the meeting between Amanda and Felicia spencer, by the feather belt. Aware of the delicate moment in the world and the difficulties encountered in carrying out a full training period, due to the restrictions imposed by social isolation, Nunes preferred to postpone the commitment and explained her routine.

“The gym only opened to some people who have fights scheduled. There aren't many people, just me and a few guys who are on the same card as me. We all have separate training sessions, with me and my coach, one at a time. I stay in shape like this. I go to the gym once in the morning and do everything. I do some things on my own, and some others I need a coach. So, I go home and do whatever I need to do to stay in shape. I have a treadmill and some weights,” she explained.
