In March of this year, MMA fans were able to watch one of the best performances in the history of women's MMA. In the octagon, the strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg.), Weili Zhang, defended her title against the former number one, Joanna Jedrzejczyk. After five hard-fought rounds, the belt remained with the Chinese, but, just over a month later, the Polish woman believes she deserves a rematch against her rival.

“I'm really happy to have given people something I've always wanted. I put a lot of work into training for weeks and managed to put on an incredible fight. It was one of the best performances of my career. It was a war. I know people want this fight”, said the Polish woman in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.
Even with the awareness that there are other athletes who could threaten Weili's reign, Joanna believes that, based on her latest performance, she is ahead of the others for a new title shot.
“The way we fought last time, we were two warriors and people want to see it again because (the fight) was very balanced. There are many women who deserve (to fight for the belt), but I think I'm the favorite,” she said.
After their presentation in March, the two athletes left the octagon badly injured. Jedrzejczyk, in fact, ended up being the target of jokes on the internet due to the swelling on her head, a result of the countless blows suffered by the champion.
The UFC president, seeing the physical condition of the fighters, did not offer a prediction for both of them to return to active duty. Joanna, however, said that she already wants to return to training.
“A few weeks ago I was like, 'I'm not going to fight for the next 12 months.' But, a few days ago, I sent a message to Dana saying that I wanted to fight”, he concluded.
