Without forgetting his origins, Adeanya also made a point of helping the team from Lagos, Nigeria. The fighter promoted the delivery of personal protective equipment to doctors and nurses who are on the front line in the battle against coronavirus. In addition to Lagos, donations also took place in the city of Auckland (New Zealand).

Israel followed in the footsteps of Conor McGregor, who has been a personality present in the battle against the pandemic. Recently, the Irishman donated 1 million euros (around R$5 million reais) to hospitals in the country.

Adesanya became Ultimate champion in October last year, when he fought against the former number one, Robert whittaker. On that occasion, the Nigerian defeated his rival by knockout in the second round.

In March, Israel held its first title defense, when it faced Yoel romero in the main fight of UFC 248. In a fight widely criticized for its lack of combativeness, the champion emerged victorious over the Cuban in a unanimous decision by the judges.
