Like it or not, Conor McGregor became a kind of golden ticket within the UFC. Everyone wants to face him, whether for money or the opportunity to beat one of the biggest names in the recent history of the sport. Former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Dustin poirier is no different. The North American has, for some time, been trying to repeat a confrontation against 'Notório', to whom he lost in 2014.

“I want the biggest challenge and the highest ranked guy I can get,” Dustin said in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.
With an interim title on his record, Dustin believes that his recent history could influence the UFC board to put him face to face against McGregor again. The division, for Poirier, however, is indifferent. Recently, Conor played at welterweight (up to 77kg) and, for the athlete, moving up in weight would not be a problem.
“I would love to face him at welterweight. I would like to face him in a boxing ring, or in MMA. I do not care. I just want the biggest fights”, said the fighter.
Poirier has not stepped into the octagon since September last year, when he exchanged forces against Khabib Nurmagomedov in a fight valid for the unification of the lightweight title. At the time, the Russian ended up getting the better of him by submitting the North American in the third round.
Currently, the North American is in second place in the Ultimate lightweight rankings, behind only Tony Feguson and the champion.
