O UFC 249 cancellation, made official last Thursday (9), was a mix of sensations for athletes, Ultimate members and the press. While some criticize the position adopted by the organization, others are relieved that the shows have been postponed amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is the case of Joe Rogan, the organization's main commentator, who has spent the last few days reflecting on his presence – or not – at the event that would take place on April 18th.

“Well, that saves me a lot of thinking. Man, I was 75% prepared to participate. The only thing I was worried about was contracting something and then infecting other people. So I would participate if I could actually be tested and know the results first,” Rogan said on his 'Joe Rogan Experience' podcast.

Joe then evaluated the possible reasons that made Dana White and his team retreat from putting on a show at such a delicate time in the world. According to the commentator, the high risk of something going wrong was essential to the decision.

“I think they did the risk calculation and then analyzed the negative aspects of acting against government regulations. They probably thought, 'We can't do this,' Rogan concluded.

Even though he put his presence in question, the president of Ultimate, in his official statement about the show's cancellation, stated that Joe would, indeed, be present on the card. The 'boss' also made a point of minimizing any controversy involving the commentator and the organization, also criticizing the media, suggesting that the press tried to turn the professional against the organization.

With the events postponed, there is still no prediction on when the UFC will resume its weekly activities. Dana even informed that she is adapting an island so that the space can host presentations even in times of pandemic.
