Away from MMA since January 2019 after being caught in an anti-doping test, TJ Dillashaw is less than a year away from being able to return to the octagon. Suspended for two years by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency), the athlete revealed that he can be seen competing for the belt in his first commitment after the hook.

“They told me I would get a title fight when I returned, but it didn't mean anything. I made a mistake. I have no right to anything now”, said TJ, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Since accepting the punishment from USADA, Dillashaw has always made a point of being very transparent regarding the use of banned substances in his preparation for the fight against Henry Cejudo, in January last year, when the North American moved down to flyweight (up to 56,7kg) to try for his second title with the organization.

In addition to being defeated by his compatriot, Dillashaw ended up caught doping and, after the accusation, gave up his bantamweight belt.

Aware of his mistake, TJ, however, would not pass up the chance to be at the top of the division again, but he would also accept an opponent from the elite of the category.

“If I could choose, I would choose the title fight. If not, a top 5, to prove that I deserve a chance at the title. That makes sense,” Dillashaw clarified.

Because he cheated, TJ believes he won't have an easy life in the UFC when he returns. The athlete reported that he hopes the organization will put him up against the toughest athletes in the group.

“I'm waiting for them to throw me to the dogs. I'm not here to play. I want my belt back. It's still mine. I’ll be ready,” she finished.
