UFC 250 should leave São Paulo and be transferred to the USA, says website

O UFC 250, an event scheduled for May 09th, in São Paulo, would be the biggest Ultimate show in Brazil in 2020. The attraction would have two title fights with Amanda nunes defending the featherweight belt (up to 65.7 kg.) against Felicia spencer e José Aldo challenging Henry Cejudo for his reign in the bantamweight division (up to 61.2 kg.). However, the show should no longer take place in Brazil.

According to a report on the Combate channel website, Ultimate is considering removing its attraction from the capital of São Paulo due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and transferring it to the USA. According to the article, names like José Aldo e Mauricio Shogun – facing Rogério Minotouro in the attraction – they were asked about the possibility of fighting in the USA instead of Brazil. On the other hand, athletes such as: Carlos Boi, Beth Pitbull and Augusto Sakai were not asked about the change.

The publication also spoke to the São Paulo Sports Department. The entity responded through an official note saying that an official position should take place in the next few days:

“The Sports Secretariat of the State of São Paulo informs that the holding of any and all events in the state must have the approval of the Coronavirus Contingency Center in São Paulo due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the coming days, the Ministry will announce the specific decision on the UFC 250".
