Karateka Douglas Brose on postponing the Olympics: 'They had common sense'

Fighter, who is looking for a place to go to the Tokyo games, praises the postponement of the Olympics to 2021

One of the main defenders of karate's inclusion in the Tokyo Olympics, two-time world champion Douglas Brose considered the decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to postpone the games to 2021 to be correct.

“The world is going through a very delicate moment. I believe those responsible had common sense. Holding the Games would be a very risky measure, as many athletes are still fighting for a place in the competition. There would not be enough time to carry out all these events before the opening of the Olympics and the preparation of the other athletes would also be hampered”, analyzed the karateka.

I chose to move up a category so I could win a spot and compete in the Games. A month before the Olympics we would have the pre-Olympics and now we have to see what the new calendar will look like. I will fight until the end to pursue my big dream”, he concluded.
