After suffering a tough defeat to Gilbert Durinho last Saturday (14), at UFC Brasilia, Demian Maia placed an order and it can be fulfilled by Ultimate. After being beaten by his compatriot, in conversation with journalists, the 42-year-old Brazilian stated that he intended to end his MMA cycle with a fight against Donald Cerrone ou Diego Sanchez. On his Instagram account, the latter published a photo with his image next to the São Paulo native, suggesting a clash for the future.

"Demian Maia x Diego Sanchez”, wrote the North American, without giving any clues about a place or date to exchange forces against the Brazilian.
Before the meeting against Gilbert, Maia had suggested extending his career a little longer, in case of victory. If he defeated his compatriot, Demian could get closer to the top 5 in the category again and would be close to a new title shot.
With his plans frustrated, the Brazilian then returned to the position of ending his history in MMA.
With the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, there is still no position on when Sanchez and Maia could perform.
If the dispute is confirmed, this will be the 38th fight in Demian's career, who debuted in the sport in 2001. In total, the Brazilian has 28 victories and 10 defeats. Maia challenged for the UFC title twice. The first, when he played at middleweight (up to 83,9kg), in 2010 and the second in 2017, at welterweight (up to 77kg). Never once did the São Paulo native manage to take the strap.
