Although he did not receive the long-awaited new chance to compete for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2 kg.), Marlon moraes will have a big challenge in his next Ultimate commitment. Escalated to face the dangerous Petr yan in one of the fights at UFC Kazakhstan, on June 13, the Brazilian claims that a victory could put him back on the front line to fight for the category belt. Knowing that he will face an elite athlete, the Friborg native, in an interview with ‘MMA Junkie’, spoke about his expectations for the confrontation.

"He (Petr yan) is doing very well. He is finishing his fights, defeating good opponents. So, let’s put myself against him and see how he does and how I do,” said Marlon.
Aware of his qualities, the Brazilian stated that, if he has a good day, he believes he will win the match, as he has great tricks to complicate the strategy of any opponent within the category.
“I need to be myself. I have to be smart and I need to use all my tools to get there, present myself in the best shape and beat this guy”, he concluded.
Recently, Moraes was involved in a controversy involving Henry Cejudo e José Aldo, who will compete for the category title on May 9, for UFC 250. The Friborg native questions the confirmation of the confrontation between the North American and his compatriot, as the ‘People’s Champion’ was defeated by Marlon in his debut in the new division. Aldo received the chance to face the number one despite having a negative record (0-1) in the group.
The meeting between Cejudo and José was also criticized by Petr. According to the Russian, the man from Manaus should not have received the chance to play for the belt, however, the president of the company, Dana White, stated that Aldo, due to his history in the company, deserves the opportunity.
