In a great phase in Ultimate, Santiago Ponzinibbio is ready to take greater risks within the organization. Undefeated in seven clashes, the Argentine challenged Rafael dos Anjos for a confrontation in UFC 250, which takes place on May 9, in São Paulo. The request was made in an interview with 'Ag.Fight'.

“I love this fight. (Rafael) Dos Anjos is a former champion, a guy with a very big name. You see that at welterweight (under 77kg) he suffered some setbacks, but he only lost to the top guys in the division. He's a very competent guy. So, it's a fight I would really like to do. And why not on May 9th, in Brazil, UFC 250?”, asked Santiago.
Although he shows respect to the former lightweight champion (up to 70,2 kg), Ponzinibbio believes that the meeting with Rafael would be encouraging for MMA fans, as they are two fighters who enjoy a lot of prestige among the Latin public.
“South America will really enjoy this fight. We are ready, waiting for a good proposal to be able to return to action again. As I said, on May 9th, I would be very happy to face Dos Anjos in Brazil”, said the Argentine.
Although he is in great form and has a positive record, Santiago has not had an official fight since November 2018, when he defeated Neil Magny by knockout in one of the UFC Argentina fights.
Dos Anjos, in turn, is not going through the best moment within the organization. Currently part of the welterweight division, the Brazilian has suffered four defeats in his last five appearances. The combatant, then, needs to succeed in his next commitment to avoid the risk of dismissal from the company.
