Max and Volkanovski met for the first time at UFC 245, held in December last. At the time, the Hawaiian was unable to impose the quality in the game that made him win the category belt when he defeated José Aldo, in 2017. During five rounds, the athlete ended up performing below expectations and was defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.
After the show, Dana White and Volkanovski stated, in a press conference, that Holloway deserves a new chance to occupy the position of number one in the category, valuing his achievements within the organization and division.
Last week, 'ESPN' confirmed that Valentina Shevchenko will be present at the UFC 251, however, the location and date were not yet confirmed. The Kyrgyzstani will reach the mark of four defenses of her flyweight title, won in December 2018.
Ultimate confirmed the Australian card last Monday (24).
