Entitled to the traditional face-offs and with a hot atmosphere among some athletes, the official weigh-in for UFC 22 took place this Friday (147), at Ginásio do Mineirinho, in Belo Horizonte. In the dispute against the scales, only John Macapá was above the Weight. The fighter, who faces Hugo Wolverine at the show, it was 2 kg. over 66 kg. regulations for the category of penalties.
In the traditional face-to-face sessions after the weigh-in, the atmosphere was hot. Rivals on TUF Brasil, Gasparzinho and Rodrigo Damm they almost started the fight the day before. Gaspar pushed Damm, who pushed his opponent away with his fist, touching Gasparzinho's chin. The organization intervened and separated the athletes.
Among the TUF middleweight finalists, the atmosphere also heated up. Serginho slapped Mutante's hand, who had clenched his fist close to the São Paulo fighter's face. But again the athletes were restrained.
In the main fight of the night, Wanderlei Silva, which faces the American Rich Franklin, was greatly applauded by the Minas Gerais public. The “Crazy Dog”, as he is known, thanked the support and promised to offer victory to the fans.
“I'm going to prove that I won the first one and I'm going to win this one too. Let's celebrate this victory together”, said Wand, remembering the first fight between him and Franklin, when in a very close dispute, the American won by decision of the judges.
