The Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos he is far from the best phase that projected him for MMA in the world. Former lightweight champion (up to 70kg.) and former challenger for the interim welterweight belt (up to 77kg.), the athlete has a worrying recent career record and the moment of the carioca reached the analysis of Michael Bisping, who, in his personal program, 'Belive You Me', commented on the situation in the GDR.

“It’s a tough (defeat) for Dos Anjos because where does he go now? The problem is that he is too short for welterweight. Yes, he reaches welterweight. In fact, two weeks ago when I was at the gym he was 84 pounds. So he's not a small welterweight. But he is very short. Look at Kamaru (Usman), look at (Michael) Chiesa. There are some big welterweights there. He (Rafael) is too big for the lightweight division, because hitting 70 kg kills him, and he did that for a long time. And he's a little shorter than the others at welterweight. He’s the perfect candidate for the 74-pound division,” Bisping said.

Rafael had the opportunity to recover from the defeat suffered by Leon edwards (in 2019) against Chiesa, at UFC Raleigh, at the end of January. The Brazilian appeared confident in the confrontation, but ended up being surprised by an opponent who strictly followed the strategy defined by his team.

Dos Anjos became lightweight champion in March 2015, when he was going through the best phase of his career. The Rio native even defended his title, but ended up losing the position to Eddie Alvarez, in 2016.

In his last five engagements, Dos Anjos emerged victorious on just one occasion. The athlete needs to win in their next duel to avoid the risk of being released by the organization.
