Although the new featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg,), Alexander Volkanovsky, has publicly said that he intends to give a new challenger a chance at the title, the Australian's plans may not come to fruition. Ultimate's president, Dana White, stated that Alex will fight again against Max Holloway for the number one position at a location and date not yet defined. The information was given in an interview with the program 'TheSchmozone'.

“(Volkanovski will fight) Holloway. Very soon. We’re working on that right now,” White said.
Although Alexander was against facing Holloway immediately, White never hid his desire for Max to receive an immediate rematch. Right after the UFC 245, in the press conference that took place after the show, the 'boss' stated that he was already envisioning a new duel between the athletes on a card to be scheduled in Australia.
So far, there is no prediction of when the featherweights will be able to face each other. Volkanovski is currently recovering from a hand injury suffered during the fight against Holloway. The Australian underwent surgery in December and still has no idea when he will return to the Octagon.
By beating Max, Volkanovski interrupted a streak of three title defenses in a row. The Australian now awaits his return to begin his reign.
