With each victory, rumors about the possibility of Jon Jones make the long-awaited debut in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg.). The assumptions reached the ears of the current middleweight champion (under 83,9kg), who has already publicly admitted his desire to face 'Bones', and, in response, stated that he will pursue the North American, regardless of the category. The statement was made in an interview with 'Submission Radio'.

“He might try to escape to the heavyweights, but I'll chase him. I’ll hunt him down if I have to,” Adesanya said.
Confident as always, the Nigerian did not rule out facing the North American in the 120,2kg weight class. The middleweight champion said that he has already played against opponents with greater physical strength and this would not be a problem for a confrontation in the future.
“I never cared about weight. It was never a problem for me. I've already worked among the heavyweights in boxing and kickboxing. I can do it again in MMA”, declared the champion.
Israel, however, stated that he is in no rush to hold the superfight against Jones. The fighter said he intends to defend his title on a few more occasions before testing himself in another category.
“Let him go to heavyweight. Now, I'm still working on the middleweights. He could jump the queue and challenge me in my category, but his team wouldn't allow it. So let me do my job and shut up. I’ll do the fight when the time is right,” he concluded.
While Adesanya against Jon is nothing more than mere speculation, the Nigerian is preparing for his first title defense. The athlete has a confirmed fight against Yoel romero in a battle that takes place on March 7, at UFC 248, in Las Vegas (USA).
