Flyweight champion, Shevchenko keeps her dream of a trilogy with Amanda Nunes alive

Defeated on two occasions by a Brazilian, the Kyrgyzstani still claims to disagree with the result of the last fight between them and asks for a reissue

Undisputed flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg.) and one of the most important women in the organization, Valentina Shevchenko I had everything to be 100% satisfied with the current moment in my career. However, that's not exactly what happens. The athlete states that she still feels the need to fight again with Amanda nunes to resolve any remaining doubts from the last time they met, in 2017. In an interview with 'theScore', the Kyrgyzstani spoke about the subject.

“This year or next year. But, as I mentioned before, I think the third fight will happen sometime in the future. I do not know when. I'm not thinking about that right now because I have a lot of things to worry about in my own category. Of course, after my last fight against Amanda, the result was totally wrong, people want to see the third fight. It's something that will happen somewhere, someday. I do not know when. And, when this happens, I will be prepared”, said Valentina.

Shevchenko and Amanda shared the Octagon on two occasions. In the first, the Brazilian emerged victorious in the unanimous decision of the judges. In the second confrontation, in 2017, the fight was valid for the belt and the Bahian woman again triumphed over her opponent, but this time, with a majority decision.

This is not the first time that Shevchenko has spoken out about a trilogy against pojucana. Amanda, however, has already revealed that she does not feel obliged to give her rival another rematch.

While she continues to try to convince the UFC to hold a new meeting with the Brazilian, Valentina remains the flyweight champion. The athlete has been undefeated in the category and has held the title since December 2018.

'The Bullet' has already made two title defenses and, on February 8, he will put his reign on the line for the third time, when he faces Katlyn chookagian in one of the fights UFC 247, in Houston (USA).
