Marlon Moraes admits he would give up the title fight for a rematch against Aldo

The fateful fight between Marlon moraes e José Aldo, which marked the debut of the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.) in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg.) has still caused something to talk about. This is because, despite the Friburguense having defeated Manauara in the judges' split decision, the company is considering giving the 'People's Champion' a chance to face Henry Cejudo, current owner of the title. The matter bothered Moraes who, in an interview with 'Ag.Fight' admitted that he was focused on getting a new fight against José, whatever the cost.

“(The new fight) would be an opportunity that, when I have it, I will accept. I said before the fight that I was open to a rematch, but if he deserved it. The fight was close and I saw that I won. But only the UFC gets in touch, they can call me, and I'll accept. Even if he's coming off three defeats (if he loses to Cejudo in a possible fight) and even if I win the next one, I'd trade a chance to fight for the title to be able to face him and knock him out. After that fight I wanted to beat him again and show who was better. It wouldn’t even take much time”, said Marlon.

During the promotion for the UFC 245, the athletes showed a lot of respect for each other. Aldo, who is one of the greatest featherweight names of all time, would make his debut against the most recent challenger for the division title. After the result of the fight, however, the scenario changed.

“We were never friends, but I always respected him. From the moment he showed who he is, I lost respect. We are a little mistaken, having the guy as an idol, a great fighter. But then I could see that everything they said about him was true. He's a guy who wants fame, who wants titles, but he always says he's going to retire and he doesn't. He says he's going to box, that he's going to leave MMA, but he ends up not leaving. What does he want? It's hard to be with a guy like that. We will only maintain professional contact”, he concluded.

The prediction is that Aldo will face Cejudo in the main fight of the UFC 250. The fight is being considered to take place in São Paulo, at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium.
