With two representatives on the UFC Raleigh preliminary card, this Saturday night (25), in North Carolina (USA), Brazil won 50% of the initial fights. Among the Brazilian athletes, the highlight was Herbert “Blaze” Burns, who made a great first impression in the UFC. Despite a good and brave performance, the former champion of Jungle Fight Felipe “Cabocão” Colares ended up defeated by Montel Jackson.

The newcomer of the night, Herbert Burns, former Dana White Thursday Night Contender Series and younger brother of Gilbert “Durinho” Burns, arrived showing what he came for at the biggest mixed martial arts event on the planet. Moving away from his characteristics, the jiu-jitsu black belt showed versatility in the fight that opened the card and achieved his first victory in Ultimate with an overwhelming technical knockout over Nate Lendwehr, just over two minutes into the fight. Burns opened the way to victory with a well-aimed knee and still had time to land a few more punches before the central referee interrupted, guaranteeing the tenth triumph of his professional career.
Second Brazilian to enter the Octagon, Felipe Cabocão showed resilience, but ended up failing in crucial moments of the fight against Montel Jackson, especially in the final stretch of the first and second rounds, when he ended up suffering a lot in the exchange. Cabocão managed to land a tight guillotine choke on Jackson in the second round and took his opponent's back in the final round, but already weakened by the American's good sequences, the Brazilian was unable to complete the submissions.
At the end of the third round, the jurors were unanimous in pointing out Montel Jackson as the winner of the fight, with a double 30×26 and a 30×25 in favor of the American. With the defeat, Felipe Cabocão now he has two setbacks within Ultimate, with a victory in the Octagon. The Brazilian has a professional record of 9 wins and two losses.
