One of the biggest names in women's MMA, Chris Cyborg is close to making its debut in the 'new home'. This Saturday (25), in California (USA), the Curitiba native will make her Bellator debut and, in her first engagement, she is scheduled to compete for the featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg.) against the current champion, julia budd. This will be the Brazilian's first fight since leaving the UFC.

After the end of her contract with Ultimate, it didn't take long for Scott Coker, president of the company, to begin negotiations to include the athlete in his group of competitors. Cyborg left the UFC after the end of his contract and due to personal obstacles with Dana White, the competitor's 'boss'.
With morale, Cris arrived at Bellator with the status of a big star and received, due to her history in the sport, the opportunity to challenge the current champion of her division.
A self-confessed fan of the Brazilian, Budd will defend her fourth belt. Champion for the company since 2017, Julia, who has not lost since 2011, has only two defeats in her career. The Canadian was beaten by Amanda nunes – Cyborg's last executioner – and Ronda Rousey, MMA legend.
Close to making history
If she beats Julia on this weekend's card, Cyborg could be close to breaking a big milestone in the sport. If she defeats Budd, the Brazilian will become the first fighter to win belts in the biggest MMA organizations in the world.
Today, Cris boasts titles with Strikeforce, Invicta FC and, lastly, UFC. A triumph for the Curitiba native will further establish the Brazilian's name in the history of mixed martial arts.
Important debut
After having his contract terminated by Ultimate, Sergio Pettis, brother of the former lightweight champion, Anthony, surprised and signed, in a short time, a contract with the former company's biggest competitor. Considered a promising prospect for the roosters, the American left the organization chaired by Dana White after an unstable sequence of performances.
In the last five times he had donned UFC gloves, Sergio ended up defeated on three occasions. The fighter's recent history influenced Ultimate to choose not to renew the fighter's contract and release him to work for another company.
The fighter will make his Bellator debut against Alfred Khashakyan in the 12th appearance of the night.
New opportunity
Considered one of the great promises of the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), Aaron Pico emerged in MMA as one of the most promising fighters for the future in the sport. With a respectable career in Wrestling, Pico ended up not having the expected performance in mixed martial arts.
The 24-year-old American debuted in the sport in 2017, at Bellator 180. On that occasion, the fighter ended up being submitted and suffered, straight away, the first defeat of his career. Despite the negative result, Aaron attempted a recovery. The fighter had four victories in a row, but ended up seeing his good form slipping through his fingers when he suffered two tough defeats in his last appearances.
This Saturday, the athlete has an appointment against Daniel Carey, who is looking for his second victory in a row. It's the promise's chance to prove that he can still offer a lot for the sport.
