In the last days, Johnny Walker revealed that a problem with his former coach, Leonardo Gosling, was instrumental in his poor performance in the UFC 244, when he was defeated by Corey anderson. In an interview with 'Ag.Fight', the fighter from Belford Roxo (RJ) said that he suffered a 'default' of around R$120 under promises of a partnership with a gym in Thailand.

“After my (shoulder) surgery, I was in Los Angeles and my trainer wanted to partner with a gym in Thailand. We would move there, put my name on it and he would teach some classes too. I sent 30 thousand dollars (around R$ 123 thousand), trusting, but it ended up that he didn't give any classes, I had no right there and I lost 30 thousand dollars. I was having a lot of problems with him. Now I’m free,” said the Brazilian.

'Free' on the market and in search of a new coach, Walker revealed conversations with two elite coaches. The athlete contacted Firas Zahabi, coach of Georges St.Pierre and John Cavanagh, responsible for taking care of Conor McGregor. According to Johnny, he will have experience with both professionals and will define who could be his new 'mentor'.

“Some friends watched Joe Rogan's podcast (official UFC interviewer) and he asked who Firas would like to train, who had the potential to be champion, as he had already trained (Georges) St-Pierre. He said I'm a big name and he'd like to work with me. That I would learn from him and he from me. After I found out about this, I contacted him. I don’t have a coach and I’m looking for one to stay with me”, said Walker.

While he hasn't decided who will be responsible for his training in the future, Walker is preparing for his return to the Octagon. On March 14, at UFC Brasilia, the athlete will face Nikita Krylov and hopes to get back on track after the tough knockout suffered by Corey anderson, in November last year.
