After the cinematic return of Conor McGregor to the octagon, this Saturday (18), when he hit Donald Cerrone in a meteoric and convincing way, the questions about a future challenge for Khabib Nurmagomedov were inevitable. However, depending on the father, mentor and coach of the lightweight champion, Abdulmanap, the clash between the Irishman and the Russian will only take place under the condition that they reach a million dollar amount. In an interview with 'RIA Novosti', the father spoke about the possibility.

“We also want a rematch against Conor McGregor. Pay US$100 million (around R$419 million) the day after the fight against Tony Ferguson No. UFC 249. For that amount, why not do the rematch? I think Dana White would be happy to organize the duel for that amount. He needs this fight,” said Abdulmanap.

Quoted by Khabib's father, Dana White has already expressed his interest in promoting the athletes' reunion in 2020. For the president of Ultimate, the confrontation between Conor and Nurmagomedov became inevitable due to the great rivalry built between the two, in addition to the astronomical proportion of the profits obtained after UFC 229, in October 2018, when the 'Águia' defeated the Irishman and remained as lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.).

For the fight to happen and be valid for the division title, however, Khabib must go through one of the most complicated challenges of his career. The Russian has a scheduled clash against Tony Ferguson  for April 18th and needs to beat one of the most feared athletes across all divisions in the company.

While the parties discuss the rematch, McGregor, at first, was not so interested in the second confrontation against Khabib. In a press conference after the UFC 246, the Irishman made a point of stating that he feels good among the welterweights (up to 77kg.) – the category in which the duel against Cerrone was held – and intends to make more appearances in the group.
