A big fan of Japanese cartoons, American Roxanne Modafferi made a point of paying homage to her favorite characters during the official weigh-in in Las Vegas (USA), where she was dressed as in “Dragon Ball Z”. And it seems that the spirit of Dragon Ball was also brought to the octagon, as the 37-year-old veteran had one of the best performances of her career, worthy of a “Sayajin” warrior, and beat the young 21-year-old promise Maycee barber.

Right away, Roxxanne Modafferi managed to bring the game into her comfort zone, with a good takedown and approximately three minutes of control on the ground. Towards the end of the initial partial, however, Maycee barber managed to escape and heated up the confrontation. However, Modafferi quickly regained control and took to the mount with a few seconds remaining, not enough time to finish his attacks.

In the opening seconds of the second round, Modafferi surprised and managed a knockdown with a well-aimed jab. Once again on top of her rival, the “Happy Warrior” got the mount in the first minute. From above, a flurry of punches and elbows opened a deep cut on Barber's forehead, which bled profusely throughout the central part of the octagon, but he still managed to escape submission attempts.

During his trip to the corner, Barber showed that his left knee was injured and needed to be analyzed by the medical team. With her movement quite compromised, the young woman ended up suffering a lot in her striking and it wasn't long before she was taken to the ground again. With a lot of desire, but no conditions, even physical, to cope, Barber only survived the final minutes of the last round and took the duel to the judges.

PUBLICITY:

“I just want to say that I'm honored to be on this card and sharing the Octagon with Roxanne, she's been fighting MMA since I was five years old. I won’t apologize for my performance, as it was thanks to Roxanne’s outstanding performance”, said Barber, who received affection from her opponent. “I just wanted to say that I saw that Maycee's knee is injured, so I would like to ask her for a round of applause and also say that I wish her a speedy recovery.”

Askar Askarov overcomes Tim Elliott in busy fight

Askar askarov experienced a real rollercoaster against the duel against Tim Elliott. Fortunately for the Russian, in the duel against the former flyweight title challenger, the final destination was his victory.

In the first round, Askarov had no difficulty imposing his momentum and offering danger with his extremely physical game. His big moment in the partial was a well-aimed cross to the chin, which practically left Elliott knocked out on his feet. It seemed like it was just a matter of time for a knockout or submission to take shape, however, Elliott not only survived but also surprised.

In the second round, Tim Elliott he managed three takedowns, excelling in what is his rival's flagship, and raised the crowd at the T-Mobile Arena. Unfortunately for the home athlete, however, the falls and some provocations were not enough to reverse the dominance of the duel and the opinion of the judges, who maintained the advantage for Askarov.

PUBLICITY:

In the last round, visibly tired, Askarov did little to finish the fight and was far from the level of performance of the initial five minutes, but he benefited from the behavior of Elliott who, advancing a lot and always with his guard open, ended up absorbing many blows. At the end of the regulatory 15 minutes, Askarov was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.
