Shogun faces Brandon Vera at UFC on FOX 4

The Brazilian Mauricio Shogun has a new date and opponent to return to the octagon. Initially scheduled to face his compatriot Thiago Silva at UFC 149, on July 21, the former light heavyweight champion had his opponent removed from the card due to an injury.

As the witch is loose in Ultimate, the UFC on FOX 4 card, an event that takes place on August 4th, was left without a main attraction due to an injury suffered by Brian Stann, who would face Hector Lombard on the show. But instead of looking for a new opponent for the Cuban, Ultimate fixed two problems with just one shot and called up Shogun for the event.

With the change, Shogun was moved to the main attraction of UFC on FOX 4 and will face North American Brandon Vera, in the main attraction of the night. Lombard is now awaiting the definition of a new opponent by Ultimate.

Vera has an MMA record of 12 wins and five losses. The North American is coming off a triumph at UFC 137, when he defeated Eliot Marshall, in October 2011. In turn, Shogun, who has a record of 20 wins and six losses, will try to rehabilitate himself at the event, as in his last appearance at Ultimate, fought a great battle, but was defeated by Dan Henderson in the judges' decision at UFC 139, in November.
