The first Ultimate card of 2020 is already marked with curiosity about what the return of Conor McGregor to the octagon after more than a year away from MMA. On January 18, at UFC 246, the Irishman will exchange forces with Donald Cerrone and will try to get back on the winning path. “(The fight) can take place in several ways. Conor is phenomenal at first. 'Cowboy' usually starts slower. Conor is very fast and has good pace, good strength. So I think he would get him (Cerrone) early,” he said.
Despite believing in McGregor's talent, Masvidal also analyzed the scenario in which the American could stand out against the 'Notorious'. For Jorge, there is a great chance of a good 'Cowboy' performance, if the athlete does not try to exchange punches with the former featherweight and lightweight champion at the beginning of the confrontation.
“If 'Cowboy' arrives to take down, as he did in the past against good 'strikers', and even good Grapplers, like Rick Story, who he was able to take down and offer danger, he can mix things up very well. If he does this, he can impose his game and pose a real threat to Conor”, said the 'bad-boy'.
However, to end the conversation, Masvidal reinforced the risks that Donald runs when trying to face an athlete with McGregor's precision and intensity on an equal footing.
“If Cerrone is just going to fight, I see Conor defeating him in the first two rounds,” he concluded.
