The new year has barely begun and José Aldo remains firm in trying to convince Ultimate to schedule a confrontation against the current bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.), Henry Cejudo. Despite having debuted with a defeat to Marlon moraes No. UFC 245, in December 2019, the ‘People’s Champion’ drew attention for his performance against his compatriot and even caught the eyes of the ‘Triple C’. Since then, the North American and the Brazilian have been exchanging barbs and suggesting a future fight, the last with the man from Manaus comparing the North American to a character from a children's film. The provocation was made on his Twitter account.

The Brazilian left the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) of the UFC, in which he reigned as champion for four years, with the intention of trying to become another athlete in the select group of competitors who held titles in different divisions. Motivated, the athlete exceeded expectations, went through a severe weight cutting process and performed convincingly against Moraes.
After the defeat in the judges' split decision, Cejudo went public to state that he was convinced by the manauara's performance and guaranteed his desire to put his title on the line against the Brazilian.
Ultimate's president, Dana White, was also pleased with José's performance, and signaled that the athlete, even defeated by Marlon, could be seen fighting for the belt soon.
If it depends on Cejudo, the confrontation against Aldo could take place in Rio de Janeiro. The champion has insisted on the provocation that he will prove that he is the true ‘King of Rio’, the nickname given to Aldo by the fans.
