Sonnen assesses the greatness of 'Khabib x Ferguson': 'The winner is the best in history'

The first half of 2020 will be marked by one of the most anticipated fights in recent MMA history. On April 18, Khabib Nurmagomedov e Tony Ferguson will share the octagon in a fight for the UFC lightweight (up to 70,3kg) belt. In the best form of their careers, the clash filled their eyes with Chael Sonnen, which states that it elevates the technical potential of the show. For the North American, the winner can be considered the best 'lightweight' in the history of the sport. In an interview with 'RT Sport', the 'American Gangster' spoke about the subject.

“When you go 28 fights without losing (Khabib) in any division, man, you claim that division. Especially when you are the world champion and already have some heavy lifting on the way to the title. If you go back and look at the names he beat, like (Edson) Barboza, just for example… this guy is a hammer,” said Sonnen, who pondered. “But we are talking about Tony Ferguson. He’s a totally different animal,” said Chael.

According to the former middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger, even with Nurmagomedov's perfect trajectory in the sport, so far, it is necessary to respect the achievements of Ferguson, who has not lost in 12 appearances and has been lining up victims since 2013.
