With McGregor down, Cerrone rules out giving fight: 'For no money'

The North American says he expects a tough challenge against the Irishman, who hasn't played since October 2018, in the main fight of UFC 246

If there is something about Donald Cerrone What no one can disagree with is that the North American, when he enters the octagon, always gives his all in disputes; winning or gaining. Against Conor McGregor, in the main fight of the UFC 246, on January 18, the North American stated that it will be no different. Aware of his opponent's bad form, the 'Cowboy' stated that he won't make it easy for the Irishman. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the fighter ruled out the possibility of 'giving the fight away' to favor his rival.

“There's a lot of idiocy being said, people telling me they heard they were being paid to lose on purpose. There isn't enough money in the world to pay me to fight. I would never be able to look at myself in the mirror if I was paid by someone to do so. This is never going to happen. I'd rather fight for free than receive money to lose. This is not me. I will fight with everything I have, as I always have,” said Cerrone.

The questions about an 'easy fight' to mark Conor's return to the octagon came from the idea that Ultimate could be interested in re-editing the confrontation between the Irishman and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The information was released by Dana White himself, who publicly stated that, if the 'Notorious' defeats Donald, he will be able to face the Russian for the lightweight belt (if Khabib wins Tony Ferguson in their respective fight).

Despite being aware that he will face an opponent he hasn't beaten since 2016, Cerrone states that he is prepared to face a more motivated Irishman than in previous appearances. For the North American, McGregor must have regained his love for sport and disputes.

“I hope to face the best Conor McGregor that you have already seen. In truth. He has many questions and concerns from his critics and those who doubt him to answer. I think he's been training a lot more than before. It will come with everything to be the best version of him that you have ever seen”, he concluded 'Cowboy'.
