Borrachinha recommends that Adesanya not face Romero: 'I don't think he can handle it'

Who warns my friend? The Brazilian Paulo borrachinha, number two challenger in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg.) is the favorite athlete to compete for the category title. However, a biceps injury temporarily removed the Minas Gerais native from the octagon and opened up the possibility for the champion, Israel adesanya, acting against a new opponent. The UFC suggested a fight Yoel romero for the title, requested by the Nigerian himself. Paulo then advised Israel not to accept the confrontation, aware of the dangers that Romero could promote. “What I really think, a lot of people may not agree, but I see a lot of holes, of weaknesses in (Israel) Adesanya, especially physical. He should be in the lower category, welterweight (up to 77gk.). To fight against me, against (Yoel) Romero, he will suffer a lot of hard blows, and I don't think he has the necessary resistance to absorb them. I respect everyone who thinks he's very good. I think he has quality, but he doesn’t survive Romero”, said the Brazilian.

Borrachinha can speak with authority about the dangers of facing the Cuban. After all, it was against Yoel that the Minas Gerais native won one of the most important victories of his career in a true battle, at UFC 241, in August. In addition to being aware of the dangers posed by Romero, Paulo criticizes the possibility of inserting an opponent who has come from three defeats in his last four appearances for a title fight.

“You can fight, you can not fight. I think Adesanya shouldn't fight. You should wait for me to do this fight, because Romero is coming off a defeat. Is not cool. On the other hand, there is no one in the division to fight him”, asked Borrachinha.

The Brazilian is expected to fully recover in April. If the Nigerian waits for Minas Gerais, six months will have passed since Adesanya unified his belt in a fight against Robert whittaker, not 243.
