'A fight is only over when it's over!' The phrase may seem like an old cliché, but it fits perfectly for the clash between the heavyweights alistair overeem e Jairzinho Rozenstruik, The Dutchman controlled the fight until the end of the fifth round, but, with five seconds remaining, the Surinamese threw a straight right out of the hat and knocked out his rival in a brutal way. The duel was the main attraction of the UFC Washington, held this Saturday (07), in the capital of the USA.

With the result, Jairzinho, whose name is in honor of the 1970 'Hurricane of the World Cup', remains undefeated in MMA with nine wins in nine fights and should rise from 12th place in the heavyweight rankings. Still in the octagon, he challenged the Cameroonian Francis Ngannou, number two in the rankings. On the other hand, Overeem has interrupted his two-fight winning streak and could lose sixth place on the division list.
The fight
As soon as the duel began, Overeem showed that he was not willing to exchange punches with Jairzinho. Even bigger and taller, the Dutchman sought the takedown on two occasions, before shortening and placing the Surinamese on his back on the ground. On top, Alistair controlled the actions and scored points, against Rozenstruik, who was completely lost on the ground.
In the second round, the duel was more balanced. Overeem kept the contest standing and connected with good strikes at medium range. But Jairzinho was in danger when he managed to shorten it. He attacked his rival's guard, who seemed aware of the danger of the attacks.
History repeated itself in the third round. Overeem controlled the fight on the feet and even managed to take down Jairzinho. The Surinamese still managed to get up, but did not pose any danger to his opponent.
In the fourth round, however, Jairzinho landed a good volume of strikes. As much as Rozenstruik's attacks seemed to be in Overeem's guard, he forced the Dutchman to recover. Jairzinho got the crowd excited when he tried a flying knee, which stopped in Alistair's defense.
The fight slowed down in the fifth round. With the athletes tired, Overeem simply managed the victory, which should have come from the judges' decision. However, with five seconds left, Jairzinho Rozenstruik went for 'all or nothing'. He threw a jab and the straight right hit the Dutchman in the face, who was already knocked out with a torn lip.
