With two Ultimate belts under his belt, Conor McGregor seems to be really determined to stay active in his MMA career. After announcing his return to the octagon in a commitment for January 18, at UFC 246, the Irishman seems to have set his next objective in case of success in his return. Dana White, president of the company, stated that the 'Notório' is interested in exchanging forces against Jorge masvidal, newest welterweight star (up to 77kg.). The statement was made by the 'big boss' in an interview with radio 101,6 FM, in Washington (USA).

In his commitment in the main fight of the UFC 246, when faced Donald Cerrone, McGregor opted to compete in the welterweight division. The decision may have been influenced by the fact that Masvidal already works in the category and the battle against 'Cowboy' could serve as a test for the fight against the American.
Jorge gained popularity in 2019 after performing three great performances in the year. In one of them, the athlete managed to break the record for the fastest knockout in the company's history after running over Ben Askren in just five seconds. After the feat, the athlete was scheduled for a super fight against Nate diaz, in a confrontation that represented the main fight of the UFC 244, in November, and with a symbolic title at stake, created exclusively for the show.
The confirmation of a confrontation between Masvidal and Conor could result in a great attraction for Ultimate, as both are popular and together they could add a significant number of spectators.
The 'Notório' has not appeared in an official fight since he was beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov, in October last year, when he tried, unsuccessfully, to regain his old lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.). Conor's last victory for the company came in 2016, in his rematch against Nate diaz.
