Blachowicz recently performed in the main event of UFC Sao Paulo. On that occasion, the Pole thwarted the victory plans of Ronaldo Jacare in his light heavyweight debut. Even with a lukewarm performance, in which he triumphed in a split decision from the judges, the athlete remained firm in sixth place in the category.
Corey, in turn, performed better in his last appointment. In the fight against the newest Brazilian darling, Johnny Walker, the North American needed just over two minutes to confirm his favoritism and deliver a brutal knockout to the Brazilian athlete, halting his rival's rise and guaranteeing himself fifth in the rankings.
After their respective victories, both the Pole and the North American asked, still in the octagon, for an opportunity to face Jon Jones. The champion, however, chose to face Dominick reyes, undefeated in his career and currently fourth in the category.
At 36 years old, Blachowicz has already played on 33 occasions, winning 25 and losing eight. The Pole has already publicly stated that he would like to fight for the title soon, as he does not intend to prolong his career for many years. The fighter's last setback came in February this year, when he was heavily defeated by former title challenger, Thiago Marreta.
Less experienced than Jan, Corey, 30, made 17 appearances, winning 13 and losing on four occasions. The American's last setback came more than two years ago, when he was beaten by Ovince St.Preux, in November 2017.
In addition to the battle between Corey and Jan, UFC Rio Rancho has already scheduled clashes between rose mountain against Mara Romero Borella, in addition to the Brazilian Rogerio Bontorin exchanging forces with Ray Borg.
