Since becoming the first Chinese athlete to hold an Ultimate belt, Weili Zhang has been dealing with speculation about his first title defense. Apparently, her first opponent in her reign will be an old acquaintance of her fans, the former champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk. The two athletes, even before their confrontation was confirmed by the organization, have been exchanging barbs via social media and the press. In the last statement, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie', Weili made the prediction about the victory against the Pole.

“I always try to finish my fights as quickly as possible, so that my opponents don't suffer too much damage. I see the fight (between her and Joanna) ending in one or two rounds. I think Joanna has great qualities in her striking and a lot of strength, but I believe in my training and team so that I can beat her in all areas”, said the champion.
Recently, the Polish woman offered to face Zhang on any date and location. For the athlete, the important thing is to regain her title, lost in 2017, when she was defeated by Rose namajunas.
The provocations between the fighters caught the attention of Dana White, president of the UFC, who even demonstrated his enthusiasm regarding the possible fight. For the boss, the meeting between the two high-level combatants will be encouraging.
The two athletes are coming off victories in their last appearances. While Zhang, in his last engagement, managed to beat Jessica Andrade and become number one, in the main fight of UFC Shenzhen, Jędrzejczyk managed to find his way back to victory after a safe and convincing performance against Michelle Waterson, when they headed the UFC Tampa.
Currently, the Polish woman is in fourth place in the straw division, behind 'Bate-Estaca', Namajunas and Tatiana Suarez placeholder image.
