Heavyweight (up to 120,2kg), Augusto Sakai, has plenty of reasons to celebrate. Undefeated since debuting for the UFC in 2018, the athlete had his contract renewed for a new series of appearances and should have a busy 2020 in his career. In an emotional post on Instagram, the athlete celebrated the agreement.

There were injuries, fractures, defeat and the loss of a contract with another organization. They mocked my faith, discredited my potential and, today, I am where I always wanted to be. After one year of contract with UF, I announce the renewal”, wrote Sakai.
Anyone who thinks that the Brazilian had an easy time in his first fights is very mistaken. With a victorious debut over Chase sherman, in September last year, at UFC Sao Paulo, it didn't take long for the Ultimate management to select the athlete for a great challenge.
In his second appearance, in April Augusto had the duty of beating the former division champion, Andrei Arlovski. In the split decision of the judges, the Curitiba native emerged victorious from the fight and, five months later, he returned to the octagon, this time against Marcin tybura, UFC Vancouver, In September.
Against Tybura, Augusto once again showed his great physical strength by delivering a devastating knockout to his rival less than a minute into the fight.
If he continues to win, the Brazilian's chance of facing a highly ranked athlete in the organization increases and, in this way, the Curitiba native can continue his journey towards the top of the category, which is currently dominated by Stipe Miocic.
At just 28 years old, Sakai has already appeared on 16 occasions, winning 14, losing one and adding one duel without result. The athlete was discovered by Ultimate from 'Dana White's Contender Series'.
The passport to the professional contract with the UFC came after the fighter beat his compatriot, Marcos Conrado Júnior by knockout in the second round in a presentation on the organization's president's reality show.
