For the first time in my career, Serginho Moraes suffered two consecutive defeats in MMA. Therefore, when you step into the octagon this Saturday (16) at UFC Sao Paulo, the three-time jiu-jitsu world champion knows that only victory matters. And, to ward off his bad phase and the imminent risk of dismissal, the São Paulo native paid special attention to his psychological side and invested a lot in his ground game. He guarantees that he will return to his roots and use his jiu-jitsu to achieve a triumph against the American James Krause.

“I come from two defeats. This has never happened in my career. This increases the pressure, without a doubt. In fact, I feel like every fight I go into is under pressure, because I always go in to do my best. For this fight, I paid special attention to the psychological part and focused a lot on the ground part. I trained Westling a lot to take the fight to my area. The goal is to not let my opponent's strategy work and bring the fight to where I am strong. I’m feeling really good and I’m going in search of this victory”, said Serginho.

If the Brazilian is in a difficult moment in his career, James Krause is experiencing the opposite. The American has won five in a row. Therefore, Serginho sees this fight as a chance to return to a good position in the organization's welterweight rankings.

“In the UFC you have to be ready for anything. So, I liked this fight because it's the chance to get back on the path to victory against an athlete who's coming in strong. A victory against him resets the score, since he beat Warlley (Alves) and Warlley beat me (laughs). Krause has good submissions and knockout power. He comes from five victories and, if I win, that puts me in a good position again”, concluded the black belt.
