Ngannou accuses UFC of using him as a 'ladder' to the heavyweight belt: 'It's clear to everyone'

In a great phase, but far from a title fight, the French-Cameroonian once again attacked the company for the lack of opportunities to win the long-awaited belt. Recently, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the athlete accused the company of using him as a 'ladder' for other athletes to reach the top of the category.

“The UFC made it clear to everyone that I am the person you have to fight if you want to fight for the belt. It feels like I'm just there to be there. I'm a ladder to the belt. This is what it looks like now. If they want to fight for the title, they have to beat me, but when will I fight for the title? That doesn’t seem to be up for discussion, so it’s just what it seems like,” Ngannou said.

The athlete took the opportunity to provoke the Russian Alexander Volkov, who won his commitment in UFC Moscow, held last Saturday (9). “For the record: Volkov rejected a fight with me twice. One happened in July 2017 and the other in August 2018. He is clearly refusing to face me”, concluded the giant.

At 33 years old, Francis now has 17 appearances in his professional career. The fighter won on 14 occasions, 10 of them by knockout and four by submission.

Recently, UFC president Dana White publicly declared that he projects a busy 2020 for Ngannou, with a fight for the heavyweight belt and presence on the debut card in France, which has never hosted an Ultimate event in history.
