The Russian sensation Zabit Magomedsharipov continues relentlessly on his way to the top of the featherweight division. With a confident performance full of plastic moves, “Zabeast”, as he is known, played Calvin kattar his sixth victim in the organization with a unanimous decision from the judges (triple 29×28), in a duel that marked the main attraction of the UFC Moscow, held this Saturday (9) in the Russian capital.

The triumph keeps Magomedsharipov in the top 5 of the category and brings him ever closer to winning the chance to compete for the belt, which will be put on the line in the UFC 245, December 14th, when the champion Max Holloway face the packed Alexander Volkanovsky. In the interview still in the octagon, Zabit asked to face the winner of the fight.
The fight
The two fighters were looking for the fight intensely, with a small advantage for Zabit, who connected with good kicks and even a spin on Kattar, who tried to respond in kind. More creative, the Russian landed two good shots to the American's head, who showed good absorption power. Kattar landed a beautiful right cross, scaring Zabit, who ended the round with open exchanges.
Zabit remained aggressive in the second stage, firing straight high kicks and spinning strikes. The Russian fans made noise with each plastic blow fired by the local athlete, who set a mind-boggling pace of movement and volume of blows. More cautious, Kattar bet on left jabs to close the distance, but was surprised by a beautiful takedown from Zabit, who was unable to keep the fight on the ground. Kattar tried to even things out in the final stretch by delivering two strong right hands followed by a knee.
In the first seconds of the third round, a low kick applied by the Russian stopped the fight. Recovered, Kattar began to surround his rival, but was unable to touch Zabit, who was moving intelligently. Apparently more tired, Zabit adopted a very cautious stance, just circulating around the octagon. Kattar took advantage of the situation to put pressure on and land good blows on the Russian, who couldn't keep up with the American's pace. When trying a flying knee, Kattar ended up falling underneath the Russian, who controlled the fight until the final bell sounded.
