The middleweight division was in turmoil last week after the news broke that the Brazilian, Paulo borrachinha, would be unable to face champion Isarael Adesanya after a biceps injury. In the video, the fighter also questions the fact that the Nigerian, according to the former challenger, took a step back from challenging him to a confrontation.
“Hey, Adesanya, you challenge me and then run away? Why? Just because I'm muscular? No. Let's fight. Solve this today. Call Dana White. Give me the date,” said the Cuban.
Yoel's fight against Adesanya would have everything to be a great attraction for the public. However, Romero's recent record at the company has discouraged the board, including the president, Dana White. The fact that the Cuban has had three defeats in his last four matches.
Yoel, however, is considered one of the most feared athletes within his division. The fighter comes from a real battle against Paulo borrachinha in a confrontation that took place in August, at UFC 241.
For White, Romero must win a fight before he can be accredited to compete for the belt. Currently, the fighter is in third place in the division, behind only Robert whittaker, former champion and Borrachinha, his last tormentor.
