Immediately after the confrontation valid for the 'Filho da Mãe Duro' belt, held this Saturday (2), at UFC 244, ended, rumors about a possible rematch between Nate diaz e Jorge masvidal began to be discussed behind the scenes at Ultimate. However, Jorge made a point of stating that he would win the duel even if he had not been interrupted by the company's doctors. The statement was made at the press conference after the show.

“I heard a lot of people saying that I could lose in the fourth or fifth round. That would never happen. What happened in the third would just keep happening. I was ready to finish him off,” said Jorge.

The American, however, took the opportunity to praise this weekend's opponent. According to the champion of the new belt, many fighters would not have withstood the large number of blows suffered by Nate during the confrontation.

“Nate is very tough. Because the same blows I used on him would have literally killed someone else,” said the American.

The question everyone wanted to ask, however, is whether Jorge would give the rematch requested by Nate moments before in the same interview room. At the time, Diaz stated that it would be fair for Ultimate to grant him the desire to exchange forces with Masvidal again.

“I want to finish him off. I want to send him to another dimension. I have a lot of respect for him (Nate), but this is our profession. I don't know if we're going to fight in my next commitment, or next year or the year after that. But I'm sure we'll face each other at some other time”, confessed Jorge.

The athlete's triumph this Saturday guaranteed the fighter's good phase in his career. Today, Masvidal has three consecutive victories. The last time Jorge tasted defeat was in November 2017, almost two years ago.

At the press conference, Masvidal admitted that he intends to return to the octagon only next year, but he did not rule out the possibility of playing for the welterweight belt, on December 14, for UFC 245, case Kamaru Usman ou Colby covington suffer any injury.

“I can do it, but they would have to sign a check that they wouldn’t have the courage to sign”, he concluded.
