Considered, by many, one of the great promises of the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg), the Brazilian athlete ended up being surprised by a tough knockout in the first round, in the last fight on the preliminary card of the UFC 244, held this Saturday (2), in New York.

Expectations were high to see the return of the athlete from Belford Roxo (RJ) to the Octagon. After successfully beating three opponents in quick matches, the Brazilian's popularity exploded and, soon, the fighter became a favorite of many MMA fans.

Against Anderson, Johnny seemed to follow the same script as his previous duels. The fighter entered the octagon dancing and seemed very relaxed. However, as soon as the fight started, the athlete felt his rival's blows and ended up not being able to withstand the pressure, being knocked out early on.

The setback marked the fourth negative result of the 27-year-old athlete's career, while Anderson recorded his fourth consecutive victory and moved closer to the front line to face Jon Jones, division champion.

The fight

Walker started the duel waddling in front of Anderson. The North American tried to find the distance to try to reach the athlete, who was moving a lot. In the first attack, Corey tried to get Johnny's legs to take the fight to the ground. The Brazilian defended well and thwarted his rival's attack. Johnny seemed to study the fight, but ended up being hit by a straight shot from the American, which took Walker to the ground. After the action, the American continued hitting Johnny, who was wobbly and was throwing the blows. After several attacks, the referee stopped the fight and declared the Brazilian a knockout.
