Paul Craig will be Shogun's new opponent for UFC São Paulo

Company confirms Scotsman as Sam Alvey's replacement for clash with Brazilian on November 16

Earlier this week, Sam alvey revealed that he broke his hand in a training session and would not be able to fight against the Brazilian Mauritius Shogun in the co-main event of UFC Sao Paulo, which takes place on November 16th. The Ultimate board then acted quickly and announced Paul Craig as Curitiba's opponent for the São Paulo card. The information was released on the official Instagram of 'UFC Brasil'.

Former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), Shogun steps into the octagon to confirm the good phase of his career. In their last five appearances, there were four wins and just one defeat.

The Curitiba native went through a turbulent time in his career. Between 2012 and 2014, the athlete suffered four defeats in five appearances for the organization.

New opponent for Tupiniquim, Craig will be committed to defeating one of the biggest names in the history of sport in Brazil. The Swede will arrive in São Paulo with the intention of adding his second consecutive triumph and will have the opportunity, in case of victory, to enter the group of the 15 best ranked athletes in the division dominated by Jon Jones.

In his last engagement, Paul achieved a good victory over Brazilian Vinicius Mamute, in a fight held at UFC Mexico City, In September. For Ultimate, the Scot has already competed in eight fights, winning four and losing the other half. The triumph over the Curitiba native in November, then, is important for Craig.

No UFC Sao Paulo, Shogun will complete the mark of 38 fights in his career, which began in 2002. In total, Maurício has 26 wins and 11 losses. The fighter held the company's light heavyweight belt in 2010.
