Through a long note on its official page, Ultimate reaffirms that it works with the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) to ensure that the sport is clean. However, he announced changes to anti-doping policies, carried out on August 31 and made public in this statement, which allowed Diaz to be confirmed at the show.

PUBLICITY:

“Since August 31, 2019, some significant changes to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy have been agreed in principle between the UFC and USADA and, as such, have been put into practice. One such change is the adoption of science-based concentration levels, also known as minimum thresholds, for certain prohibited substances, where evidence demonstrates that positive tests of those substances below the threshold are consistent with innocent contamination. A positive sample of an applicable substance below the decided concentration level results is treated as an atypical finding. An atypical finding will not result in a violation in the absence of other facts or circumstances confirming that the athlete intended to obtain an unauthorized therapeutic benefit or performance enhancement through use of the substance.”

The statement then addressed Diaz's case specifically.

PUBLICITY:

“On October 24, 2019, Nate diaz released a public statement regarding a recent out-of-competition test conducted by USADA. The UFC was notified by USADA that out-of-competition testing concluded that LGD-4033 was present in Diaz's sample in an amount below the decided concentration level for this substance. USADA is reviewing the out-of-competition test as an outlier finding. Further laboratory testing conducted by the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory (SMRTL), a WADA-accredited laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah, confirmed that two bottles of the same organic, vegan, plant-based multivitamin, which Nate diaz used was contaminated with LGD-4033, which highlights the contaminated sample.

Nate diaz has not committed an Anti-Doping Policy violation, has not been provisionally suspended and is not subject to any sanctions. Additionally, the UFC has been advised by independent experts who have determined that there is unequivocally no appreciable performance enhancement or therapeutic benefit from the significantly limited amount of LGD-4033 that may be present in your system, which is approximately 10.000 times less than an LGD- 4033 in therapeutic dose”
